Beware of possible flooding in Whyteleafe and Kenley from the Caterham Bourne, the Environment Agency warned yesterrday.
It said: "Groundwater levels in the upper Wandle area are high, causing the Caterham Bourne to flow.
"The intense rainfall received over Christmas and the New Year is currently soaking through the ground, increasing groundwater levels further.
"A further increase to groundwater from the recent rain will cause the river to come out of bank.
"Initially, this will result in shallow flooding over low lying roads and properties.
"We expect this to start happening, potentially in the Kenley and Whyteleafe area, in the next few days.
