A MOTHER has issued a warning after a drain remains uncovered nearly three weeks after the problem was reported.
Jackie Kavanagh first noticed the open drain in Prices Way, Reigate, on December 20 after parking up with her son and four-year-old daughter.
She immediately reported the problem to Reigate and Banstead Borough Council – who forwarded the enquiry to Surrey County Council – and eventually received an e-mail on Christmas Eve saying a team would be sent out to cover the drain and make it safe.
But two weeks later the drain is still uncovered and according to Mrs Kavanagh, is causing a serious risk of injury to pedestrians.
"I am disgusted at how long it is taking and still nothing has been done about it," she told the Mirror.
"I told them where it was and how dangerous it is and that someone could fall down it as they got out of their car as it is not very noticeable, I feel like they have not taken any notice of my complaint and I feel displeased and shocked about their actions towards it."
Surrey County Council spokeswoman Joy Ridley said the council is investigating the problem.
