UPDATE: It is believed the workmen are currently attempting to secure the first crane which was broken in the initial attempt to lift the tree. WORKMEN are currently using three cranes to try and lift a tree which fell onto a house in Earlswood. Witnesses at the scene told how the first crane arrived at the scene this morning but appeared to buckle under the weight of the crane. A second crane could not complete the job and a third larger unit has now been deployed at the site for a few hours. Workmen in a cage were being lowered towards the tree in an apparent attempt to tie it up for the crane to lift. Now though witnesses report the workmen are trying to dismantle the first crane which was damaged in the initial attempt to move the tree. Witness Susan Nowacki said: "They have had a few attempts to put the winch down but they have not succeeded. "They have just gone up in the cage to try again. It is a slow business really." With darkness falling, it is unclear whether the job will be completed this evening. The Mirror contacted the crane company earlier today but no one could tell us more about the situation. Raven Housing Trust, which is responsible for the property, says it is not responsible for the tree but has brought in the cranes in an attempt to avoid further damage. No one has been injured at this time.
