Reigate Priory Hockey Club Mid-Season Review
The 2012 Olympics tagline of 'Inspire a Generation' has seen Reigate Priory introduce a fifth team to accommodate an influx of new players.
When asked to recap on the season so far, Philippa Keith, fifth team captain, said: "We entered into Surrey League Division 11, it's been a slow start, but as the season progressed we have recruited more players including a goalie, we have gelled as a team and have now found our form.
"Having spent most of the season at the bottom we have recently gained some points and are hoping to be mid league by the end of the season, we are having so much fun."
The women's fourth team have also started slowly in Surrey Division Nine, currently in eighth position.
Promoted into Surrey Division Seven, the women's third team, have had a solid start to the season, currently sitting third having scored an incredible 35 goals, 11 of which have come from on form forward Caroline Clark.
The women's second team have had a victorious yet tricky start to the season. Currently on a run of five games unbeaten, the Christmas break has possibly come at the wrong time for them. The team are benefitting hugely from a consistent side and goals coming from all positions, ably led by top goal scorer Freyja Cox they find themselves top of Surrey Division Four at Christmas.
The women's first team are currently fourth in Surrey Division One. This season they recruited level two coach Sally Smith, gained key senior players and continue to introduce the youth from their increasing Colts Section, all key factors in their consistent form. The team are scoring an average of three goals per game, led predominantly by 14-year-old Laura Zander, who is working her way to becoming the team's top goal-scorer in her debut season.
