REIGATE was treated to a blast from the past when the Surrey Vintage Vehicle Society drove into town.
Crowds gathered in Tunnel Road to swoon over vehicles which dated as far back as the 1920's.
"It's nostalgia," said club member Tony Russell on why shoppers, young and old, still stop what they're doing to admire these old machines.
"You can still take these cars apart by hand and repair them by hand.
"People know how they work and you could repair these cars at home. You can't do that with modern cars."
And it's that old way of working, when driveways and garages would be packed with tools and an afternoon could be lost working on an engine that just wasn't quite running right that keeps people wanting these cars.
According to society members modern cars will never enjoy the same cult following as the likes of the 1927 Trojan tourer or the 1955 Jaguar Mark 7, or the other cars that were on display.
"Modern cars won't last because they're only built to last six or seven years," explained Mr Russell.
"I don't think there's many modern cars that will still be around in 50 years while these cars will be around forever."
