REALITY TV has exploded in recent years, creating overnight stars and being watched by millions worldwide – and now Surrey is joining the party.

For more than three months, upcoming TV show Surrey Hills has been putting together a cast to lift the lid on life in our leafy county.

YouTube videos and photographs on social network sites have slowly revealed more of what the show will offer.

To tell us more, five of the current aspiring cast members sat down with reporter Chris Madden to discuss the challenges of showcasing Surrey on TV.

"You can't generalise Surrey," said supercar exporter Alan Watts. "No one could ever make a show which shows everything in Surrey. When people say we're not showing the real Surrey they're just hypocrites because you can't show the whole of Surrey. It's impossible."

Hinting at what lies ahead, Benny Rose added: "I personally think the general public are in for a surprise; we're going to be showing many different lifestyle choices in Surrey." The show's production is currently entering "phase two" and the gang hope to have news on when the show will air within the next eight weeks.

Though Surrey Hills is not signed to a channel yet, the group has no doubt about the show's appeal.

Avid polo player Holly Jennings said: "Surrey is like the hidden gem; people want to know what goes on here. People have a lot of money and it's where very successful people go to live. What goes on there? We're going to hopefully show you."

Alan added: "There's one more space in the market for one of these shows and it has to be Surrey really."

The crew are keen to dismiss the misconceptions which are already arising – they do not all live off their parents' money.

Holly said: "You can't change what people are going to say about you, though." Benny added: "As for the people we can't please, that's what makes it more entertaining – they're still going to watch."

The group are still waiting for the cast to be finalised and to find out if they have made the cut, but they say they have become close friends during the process.

"I've made a couple of new good friends so if I don't get anything else from it then it's been cool anyway," Alan said.

Sam Steen added: "It's a friendship group now. We're going to be filmed just being ourselves, being mates, going for nights out, having a laugh, it's like the best job ever."

Singer Talia Janson added: "I think people always say 'oh God, if that was caught on camera' – well now it's actually going to be caught on camera."

And what makes these guys the most entertaining folks Surrey has to offer?

Alan summed it up: "Why don't you come out on a Friday and you can find out."

Over the next week, we will posting an exclusive video every day of our meeting with the Surrey Hills gang. Make sure you don't miss out by returning to our website
