BROCKHAM churchgoers are celebrating after an intensive fundraising campaign allowed them to develop and improve their church.
Members of the Christ Church Brockham Community Hall project have been working in their community for months as they tried to raise enough money to renovate the church and bring the hall into the modern era.
Improved disabled access, as well as a new noticeboard and gates have been added to the church, while the community hall has also added disabled access, along with new toilets, a kitchen, audio visual equipment and wifi.
A programme of fundraising events was organised to get the funds together and this week members of the project sent a heartfelt thank you to their community.
Philip Davies, a member of the committee to improve the church building, said: "Today the churchgoers and villagers of Brockham are counting their blessings to be part of such an active, generous and energetic community as they celebrate the development and improvement of their church buildings.
"The fundraising committee could not have executed such a project without the substantial financial help received from the following groups which they would like publicly to thank.
"These include Brockham Parish Council, Wheels 4 U, Betchworth United Charities, Poland Trust, county councillor Helyn Clack and Brockham Social Committee."
Mr Davies also thanked residents and local businesses.
