OLYMPIC ambassadors and family entertainment will welcome millions of visitors to Gatwick this summer.

The busiest day at the airport was set to be July 26, with around 72,000 people passing through the doors.

Comedy royal guards, singers, stilt walkers and puppet shows will be among the entertainment on offer over the coming weeks as airport chiefs aim to send holiday-makers off with a smile.

In addition, 120 ambassadors from last summer's Olympic Games will return to help people passing through the airport.

Nick Pope from Gatwick's terminal operations team said: "Gatwick is looking forward to welcoming passengers this summer with some fantastic events to entertain and delight people travelling with children in particular.

"Passengers will be able to enjoy everything from dance shows and circus performers to live music and magic acts.

"We want to ensure the journey through our airport is smooth and speedy but also fun and memorable – and giving passengers a great send off and warm welcome is all part of achieving this."

Six million people will pass through the airport this summer en route to holiday destinations, with Spain top of the list.

Travellers' help and advice on passing through the airport can be found at www.gatwick airport.com
