A 58-YEAR-OLD man appeared in court this week charged with raping a woman in Whyteleafe Recreation Ground.
Colin Andrew Ford, 58, of Fernhurst Road, Addiscombe, near Croydon, appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Monday.
Mr Ford spoke only to plead not guilty to each of the two charges of rape and one of assault by penetration.
Mr Ford stood behind a glass screen throughout the hearing, accompanied by a female security guard.
The alleged offences – involving a woman in her mid-20s – are said to have happened some time between May 16 and 19 this year at the recreation ground in Hillbury Road.
Mr Ford was released on conditional bail until his trial starts on Monday December 2.
Prosecuting barrister Graham Smith said the trial is scheduled to last for three to four days, and some of the evidence may be given by television link to the court room.
At the conclusion of the 12-minute hearing Judge Michael Addison told the defendant the conditions of his bail.
These are that he must live at his Addiscombe home until the trial gets under way, and he must remain at home between his curfew hours of 7pm and 7am.
