A CARE home has been given a glowing report by the health watchdog following a routine inspection.

The Beeches Care Home, in Leatherhead, was visited by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in March, and a report published last week found the facility to be performing well.

The Forty Foot Road facility was judged to meet requirements in almost all categories, apart from its standard of staffing, which "requires improvement".

In their report, the CQC inspectors said: "Residents told us that staff were available when they needed them and that they knew the staff who provided their care, which was important to them."

But the report continued: "Staff had not always received appropriate professional development, supervision or appraisal. The majority of the staff we spoke with told us that they never met their line manager for one-to-one supervision and the remainder said they did so rarely.

"None of the staff we spoke with said they had an annual appraisal of their performance."

The care home provides accommodation, support and personal care for 54 older people, some of whom are living with the experience of dementia.

The home is owned and operated by the Anchor Trust.
