Surrey Police are seeking information after an 80-year old man was robbed by two men who forced their way into his house in Farnham.
The incident took place on Monday night in Stoke Hills at around 7:45.
The two men were masked and while one searched the ground floor of the house the other pinned the elderly man against a wall.
It is believed that the only property taken was a coat and although the victim wasn't injured the incident has left him very shaken.
Detective Constable Mike Taylor, who is investigating the robbery, said: "The victim is 80 years old, lives on his own and has no family. These two men have forced their way into his home, pinned him up against a wall and after all that have only taken his jacket. Thankfully he was not hurt but he is very distressed by what has happened."
Earlier in the day the victim had visited Ladbrokes bookmakers in East Street, Farnham. He was collecting some money that he had won. Officers are investigating the possibility that that the attackers may have seen him and followed him home.
DC Taylor said: "He had visited a bookmaker in the town centre earlier that day and one of the lines of enquiry is whether someone saw him collect his winnings and then followed him home".
"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the offence to come forward as a matter of urgency. Any information will help to progress the investigation and ensure that these men are brought to justice."
