THE house where a woman was killed and stored in a freezer for almost three years has been put on the market.
Peter Wallner was sentenced to life in jail in 2010 for murdering his wife Melanie, 30, at their home in Hamilton Avenue, Cobham.
The German-born chef killed his South African-born wife in August 2006 by hitting her a number of times with a heavy griddle pan, before buying a freezer that he put in a garden shed to store her body.
The three-bedroom home is on the market for £339,950 with estate agents Curchods.
The property is described on their website as "a truly impressive three-bedroom home that has a wonderful contemporary feel".
Wallner told Melanie's family and friends that she had died from either a brain haemorrhage or blood clot and played the part of a grieving husband, organising a memorial service for her.
He even flew to South Africa to deliver Melanie's ashes to her family – but they later turned out to be barbecue ashes.
But he was finally caught out in June 2009 when he lost his job and was forced to leave his home when his rent fell into arrears.
He dumped Melanie's body in a wheelie bin outside the house before leaving for Malta with his new girlfriend, Lilia Fenech.
But his web of lies unravelled when refuse collectors refused to empty the bin because of its weight. The property's landlords then made the grim discovery of Mrs Wallner's body.
After Surrey Police launched its murder inquiry, Wallner returned to the UK but denied murder, saying he had killed his wife in self-defence after she had stabbed him with a steak knife and attacked him with a pan.
But scars on his legs were discovered to be self-inflicted.
At the Old Bailey in May 2010, he was told he would serve a minimum of 20 years for the killing and for preventing Mrs Wallner's lawful and decent burial.
