THE long arm of the law reached out and "arrested" some sheep last week.
Around 6am on Friday, officers from Surrey's Roads Policing Team stopped an escaped flock near the junction of Church Lane and East Hill Road, Oxted.
It drew the tongue-in-cheek comment on the Tandridge Beat Facebook page: "Love it. Only in Oxted could the drama of the day be sheep escaping from the church grounds."
Officers were called to the A25 in Oxted after the four sheep were spotted causing an obstruction in the road. It is believed the animals escaped from a nearby field and after officers caught them they were returned to their owner, who was given advice about securing the sheep.
