A TEAM of four walkers from Dorking has covered 900 miles in six weeks for The Brigitte Trust.
Wearing USB pedometers for the entire challenge, the team – Jen Mason, Vanessa Smith, Sally Elias and Claire Whitbourn – pledged to take 10,000 steps each every day.
They uploaded their steps to a website each morning before starting from zero again.
Ms Smith told the Advertiser: "I had four months off work sick at the beginning of the year so it was a great opportunity to regain my fitness."
Mrs Elias said she had also enjoyed her challenge, often walking into Dorking from her home.
"Raising funds in this way was relatively easy and it has really helped me step up my general fitness level," she said. "It's also encouraged me to leave my car at home."
The team walked alone and together, planning park and riverside outings and have raised more than £1,500 for the charity, which supports people at home facing life-threatening illness.
The money will help cover the cost of volunteer training this September.
