THREE Mole Valley homes are on a list of "flagged" addresses where paramedics have been attacked or threatened.
South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) maintains a log of red or amber flags for addresses where staff could be at risk – sometimes so serious that they will not approach without police backup.
Figures obtained by the Advertiser using the Freedom of Information Act show there are four red-flagged addresses in Surrey, as well as 15 amber flags.
One of the red-flagged addresses is in Leatherhead, while Dorking and Fetcham each have an amber-flagged household.
Secamb spokesman Richard Airey said: "The trust maintains a log of addresses where patients or other residents at the address are considered to represent an actual or potential danger to our staff.
"When the trust responds to a marked address, the Emergency Operations Centre will alert the crew to the nature of the marker to ensure they are aware of the risk.
"In some cases this will include instructions to await the arrival of the police prior to approaching the property in question."
A red marker relates to the highest risk category and is used for addresses where staff have been physically assaulted or threatened with violence.
An amber marker shows there is a potential risk to crews, or that there is a high chance of abusive, aggressive or inappropriate behaviour.
Mr Airey added: "Flags are simply put in place to protect our staff. We would not reveal the location of individual flags.
"Secamb also has the ability to put other flags on addresses through discussions with members of the public and their families.
"These would be for either the medical benefit of the patient, and list certain medication they were taking or contain an access code for a property of someone who might have difficulty opening the door to paramedics if they had suffered a fall."
