Man arrested over Newchapel burglary

A man in his 30s has been arrested this morning following a BBC Crimewatch report on a burglary in Newchapel. Police with search warrants forced their way into properties in the South Croydon area after information passed to Surrey Police following the televised appeal. The man, from the New Addington area, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and has been released on bail until Thursday, 12 September. The incident occurred during the early hours of Tuesday, 12 June, 2012 when a family of four, including father, mother and two teenage daughters, were tied up and the father then threatened with a firearm. Whilst the burglars were at the property they raided the whole house and many high value items including a Rolex watch and a Louis Vuitton handbag were stolen.
