TANDRIDGE Village Fête was a cracking success this year – as it played home to this year's national egg-throwing championship.
Before folks threw their yolks, the day was opened by the king and queen, Thomas Higgins and Bella Brazier, both seven years old, who had been chosen by their schoolmates at St Peter's Infants School in Tandridge.
Organiser Alan Essex said a record number of visitors enjoyed the fun in the sun, adding: "We had glorious sunshine and record attendance.
"It's too soon to know exactly how much was raised, although we know it will be up on previous years, but what's important is that we've all had fun making it a success once again. We were still going strong at 6.30pm, an hour after normal."
The main attraction this year was Team Kinetix with their amazing acrobatics and throughout the afternoon there was always something to watch whilst enjoying teas, beers or a barbecue.
Egg throwing winners this year were junior champions Niamh Conneely and Catherine Ledesma, both 14, whilst this year's national champions, with a successful throw of 49m, were Dan O'Hara and Morgan Lloyd, both 16. Other attractions included llamas, courtesy of Little Brookstreet Llamas and young calves from Newhouse Farm.
And no Tandridge village fete would be complete without its Slippery Pole Fight champion, who this year was 14-year-old Niamh Conneely.
