THIS Saturday, from 2 to 4.30pm, visitors to the Holmesdale Natural History Club's Museum will be able to imagine life in Redhill and Reigate in past times.
On display in the local history room at the museum at 14, Croydon Road, Reigate, will be a number of fascinating documents showing how our ancestors entertained themselves, the types of homes they lived in and how they went about their lives.
If you want to find out what houses were worth a century ago – or perhaps what used to stand where your house is now; have an intriguing insight into day-to-day life – how often people shopped, what they bought and how they paid; and see a foundation stone being tapped into place by Francis Edward Barnes, mayor from 1897 to 1902. There will be a small prize for the first person who can point out where the stone is to be found today. All are welcome to the museum's open day. Admission is free.
