OXTED'S answer to the Epsom Derby brought the crowds flocking to Master Park on Saturday.
The 42nd annual donkey derby featured assorted races, with dozens of stalls and sideshows.
Many hundreds of people enjoyed fun in the sun, with profits from the day raising vital funds for event organisers the 1st Oxted (Chalkpit Lane) Scout Group.
There were seven donkey races, with child jockeys, as well as three sulky (donkey and cart) races.
East Surrey MP Sam Gyimah was one of the jockeys, but he failed to qualify for the final.
Visitors had the opportunity to bet on the races.
Other attractions included tombola, a coconut shy, crockery smashing, a bar and also stalls run by local organisations.
Pat Leveridge, of the event's organising committee, said: "It was a brilliant day with large crowds, and it stayed very hot.
"We had somewhere between 1,500 to 2,000 people on the day for our 42nd event. It's our main fundraiser for the Scouts and helps towards the upkeep of the hall, and to keep the Scouts going, so we're delighted it went so well.
"There were six races for children and then a final with all the winners. But although it was a fun day, it was hard work for the organisers who were there from 7am setting up.
"The stalls were very popular, especially the Tote where people could place bets, and the tea and beer tents had long queues too."
The annual event is consistently one of the most popular events in the town's calendar, along with thing like the annual pram race and town carnival.
The total amount taken is still being totted up, but last year's event raised about £3,000.
The funds will be pay towards the Scout group's running costs, and for events like camps.
